Parliamentary affairs

The Directorate for Parliamentary Affairs is the institutional channel between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship and the National Legislative Branch, and liaises in connection with matters and bills relating to national foreign policy.

The following are some of its main tasks:

  • To inform, in coordination with other areas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, the members of the Argentine Senate and of the Argentine House of Representatives on matters relating to foreign policy.
  • To follow-up in the Argentine Congress on matters or projects of interest, related to the design and implementation of foreign policy.
  • To coordinate missions by national legislators abroad, in the context of official visits or international meetings, as well as official visits by foreign legislators, government officials, or authorities and representatives of International Organizations to either House or to legislators of the Argentine Congress.
  • To foster and provide support to relations between Argentine legislators and foreign legislators, through Parliamentary Friendship Groups and bilateral meetings between legislators.
  • To foster and support the participation of Argentine legislators in parliamentary forums, especially in those relating to regional integration processes.
