The Directorate for Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship informs that 68 projects from around the country were received in the context of the Open Invitation to Bid for the official Argentine submission to be selected for the 58th International Art Exhibition - 2019 Venice Biennale. The jury is currently evaluating all projects submitted.
In mid-November, a press conference will be held at the Foreign Ministry to announce the winning project.
Open invitation to bid
On 5 October, in the presence of Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie and Secretary of Culture Pablo Avelluto, an event was held to launch the Open Invitation to Bid for Visual Arts Projects for the Argentine Pavilion at the 58th International Art Exhibition - Venice Biennale, whose slogan, chosen by general curator Ralph Rugoff, will be: "May you live in interesting times".
All artists and curators must be Argentine nationals and must live and work in Argentina in order to participate. Moreover, the work annexed to the project and the curatorial proposal must be original.
For the first time since 1901, the Invitation to bid was open to the public in order to guarantee its transparency and federal nature.
The deadline for the submission of Projects was Friday, 2 November.
