Agreement with Paraguay ensures public works in Pilcomayo river

On 6 November, during the meeting of the Bi-national Committee for the Pilcomayo River Basin, the Argentine and Paraguayan Foreign Ministries reached an important agreement to coordinate the 2018-2019 public works schedule.

As a result of this agreement in which the Secretariat for Water Resources also took part, on 7 November the coastal barrier built by Paraguay on the Pilcomayo river was removed, thus addressing the legitimate demands of the Province of Formosa.

Future public works will ensure the fair distribution of water resources, their rational use and also the safety of people living on the river banks during the wet season, in addition to protecting the ecosystem.
