Today, the Argentine Republic and Canada signed a Memorandum of Understanding to amend the existing air transport agreement. This Memorandum will make it possible, among other benefits, to increase the number of flights and seats, thus promoting connectivity, trade and tourism between both countries.
In addition, both delegations made progress on the negotiations to conclude a modernized Air Transport Agreement, adapted to new market realities and the needs of their citizens, to replace the existing agreement, signed in 1979.
The meeting, held at Palacio San Martín, was presided over by Deputy Foreign Minister Leopoldo Sahores. The Canadian delegation was headed by Shendra Melia, Chief Air Negotiator at Global Affairs Canada, who signed the memorandum together with the Argentine Secretary for Transport, Franco Mogetta.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Sports, Daniel Scioli; the Foreign Ministry's Undersecretary for International Economic Negotiations and Integration, Ambassador Gabriel Martínez; the Canadian Ambassador to Argentina, Reid Sirrs; other Canadian authorities and representatives from the private air transport and tourism sectors.
During his speech, Deputy Foreign Minister Sahores highlighted that "this Memorandum will enable us to work together and achieve greater connectivity between Argentina and Canada, which will benefit our citizens, promote trade and contribute to the development of the economies and tourism of both countries.
