On 26 January, Foreign Minister Diana Mondino received the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Argentine Republic, Nur Azman Abdul Rahim.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister and the Ambassador highlighted the longstanding friendship between both countries. Within that framework, they addressed matters of common interest, analyzed the development of bilateral relations, and underlined the importance of further strengthening the relationship in various areas.
Furthermore, they stressed that there are considerable opportunities for trade and investments between both countries. In that regard, they agreed that bilateral economic relations have significant potential for expansion and diversification, especially concerning the opening of markets and sanitary negotiations.
The Foreign Minister expressed Argentina’s strong interest in obtaining the approval for new companies exporting meat with Halal certification, and supported the joint work between Petronas and YPF, while advocating for further collaboration.
For his part, the Malaysian Ambassador noted his country’s interest in advancing negotiations to sign an agreement with MERCOSUR.
Finally, they analyzed the possibility of arranging high-level visits this year.
