From 24 August to 2 September, Argentina will be guest of honor at the 31st University Book Fair (FUL) in Pachuca, one of Mexico´s most important book fairs, which this year is expected to receive an estimated 160,000 visitors.
Organized by the Argentine Foreign Ministry and the Argentine Embassy to Mexico, the Argentine pavilion will offer over two thousand books from Argentine publishing houses and authors for sale, including La muerte juega a los dados by Clara Obligado, La música del destino by Viviana Rivero and Mujeres de fuego: Historias de amor, arte y militancia by Stella Calloni, in addition to the permanent Literature exhibition, showcasing both classic and new Argentine authors.
Also on display in the Pavilion will be a photography exhibition which shows the restoration process carried out in our country for David Alfaro Siqueiros' mural Ejercicio Plástico Mural.
In the outer section of the Fair, there will be an exhibition of graphic art, including the works of cartoonists Quino, Liniers and Tute, among others.
The Ballet of Cosquin and the Province of Jujuy provided typical and Carnival costumes, as well as artisanal handicrafts and distinctive food products from Argentina -alfajores and wine-, which will be offered to the public attending the Fair.
In addition, tango and folklore shows will be held, including concerts by Natalia Simoncini - known as the lady of Folk Rock-, joined by the String Orchestra of the University of Hidalgo, and a lecture by Esther Soler on the History of Tango.
Finally, Argentine cooking lessons will be given by Marcelo Miretti; an Argentine film series will be held, presenting El ciudadano ilustre together with animated short films. There will also be a workshop with Argentine illustrator Inés Huni, among other activities.
Author Clara Obligado has been sponsored by the Argentine Foreign Ministry in order to attend the Fair, where she will deliver lectures on Argentine literature and take part in several round tables together with other guest authors.
