On behalf of the Argentine Government, the Secretary for the Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic, Daniel Filmus, contacted the UK Ambassador to Argentina, Mark Kent, to convey Argentina’s readiness to collaborate with the Malvinas Islands residents in connection with the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“I have conveyed to Ambassador Kent Foreign Minister Felipe Solá’s message that, at this difficult time, solidarity must be the way to overcome the situation caused by coronavirus,” Filmus stated.
In his conversation with the British Ambassador, the Secretary for the Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic mentioned the possibility of collaborating with the islanders by sending fresh food, medical supplies or tests to detect the virus that causes Covid-19, as well as making arrangements for any humanitarian flights that may be necessary and for the provision of health services at medical centres in the Argentine mainland.
