On Thursday 22 August, President Mauricio Macri contacted the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, to offer support and assistance in view of the serious environmental situation caused by the fires affecting the Amazon region.
Within this context, Argentina offered over 200 personnel with equipment, members of the National System for Comprehensive Risk Management (SINAGIR), to help fight the fires and offer any assistance required by Brazilian authorities.
Brazil's requests for assistance are being jointly coordinated by the Argentine Foreign Ministry and SINAGIR.
