The 2nd Political Consultations Meeting between Argentina and Turkmenistan was held today, in the context of the visit by a Turkmen political and business delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev, who was welcomed at the Palacio San Martín by his Argentine counterpart, Gustavo Zlauvinen.
The Deputy Foreign Ministers reviewed the state of the bilateral relation and discussed the main issues with potential for joint development. They discussed different ways to strengthen the political and economic bonds between the two countries, with a focus on the exploration of opportunities for meat and agricultural machinery exports, as well as cooperation in energy. Cooperation and exchange projects were discussed in the fields of sports, especially as regards equestrian sports, culture and education, and satellites.
In addition, Vepa Hajiyev met with Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie, with whom he discussed the importance of further developing this joint work in multiple areas of shared interest.
The official Turkmen delegation was made up of various businesspeople from the agricultural sector, who met with representatives of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), the local private sector and the Argentine Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA).
This bilateral meeting is the follow-up to the work carried out during the 1st Political Consultations Meeting held in Ashgabat, the capital city of Turkmenistan, in April 2017, and to a mission by INTA and SENASA to that country last July.
