The Argentine Foreign Ministry is pleased to announce an important milestone in trade relations between Argentina and Hungary: the first direct export of chilled Argentine beef has successfully entered the Hungarian market, after the opening of that market as a result of joint work between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, the Secretariat of Bioeconomy and the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (SENASA).
The initiative has been possible thanks to the collaboration between the Hungarian company Winehub and Argentine meat exporter MUGE, with the assistance provided by the Argentine Embassy in Hungary and the teamwork with the Hungarian authorities in support of the private sector to ensure the success of the new business relationship.
The first shipment to the Central European country includes select cuts such as tenderloin, rib eye steak, strip loin, rump skirt, cap of rump (picanha) and eye of rump. As a result of the opening of this market, the company MUGE Hungary has been established, a new commercial partnership dedicated to bringing Argentine meat to this region.
This achievement is part of the relaunch of the bilateral relationship with Hungary on the 100th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations, carrying out actions that allow us to strengthen our presence in Hungary through the offer of quality products in order to develop the commercial potential of both countries.
In this regard, the Secretary for International Economic Relations, Ambassador Marcelo Cima, has highlighted that "the Foreign Ministry carries out constant work to increase trade and diversify export destinations. Hungary is a key market in the region of Central and Eastern Europe that generates great expectations given its location in the heart of Europe, which allows us to enter other countries in this region at competitive costs, strengthening Argentina’s presence in the demanding European markets."
