On the occasion of the 62nd Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs of the United Nations (UN) held in Vienna, Austria.

For the first time, Argentina proactively requested and set forth the scientific grounds for the inclusion of three chemical precursors of psychoactive substances, synthetic drugs consumed in the country, before the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB).

Thanks to the joint work between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Security and the Secretariat for the Programming of Prevention of Drug Addiction and the Fight against Drug Trafficking (SEDRONAR), the initiative to include those substances in the lists under international control received unanimous support.

This initiative by the Argentine Republic is part of the work aimed at international cooperation and the update of multilateral rules necessary to protect society. The paramount task is to make it easier for Argentina and the entire international community to control the production, movement, commercialization and consumption of these substances in order to enhance the fight against drug trafficking.
