Joint Communication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship and the Ministry of National Security
The Argentine Republic categorically rejects the false and unfounded accusations made by dictator Nicolás Maduro against Argentine citizen Nahuel Agustín Gallo, whom he has accused, without any evidence, of attempting to compromise the security of the Venezuelan Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez. These claims lack any factual or legal basis.
Nahuel Agustín Gallo entered Venezuela legally, having complied with all applicable immigration rules. He presented his personal documents, provided his family address, and met every requirement prior to his trip. There is no evidence to support the accusations made against him. Maduro’s statements are not only false but also irresponsible and are aimed at diverting attention away from the serious political, economic, and social crisis facing the Venezuelan regime.
The Argentine Government once again demands the prompt and unconditional release of Nahuel Agustín Gallo, ensuring his physical and mental integrity, as well as full respect for his human rights, in accordance with international law and the bilateral treaties in force between both countries.
A recent report by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) thoroughly exposes the serious irregularities committed by Nicolás Maduro’s regime, which uses the State apparatus as an instrument for political and social control in order to remain in power and hinder the legitimate efforts made by the democratic opposition, led by President-elect Edmundo González Urrutia and María Corina Machado.
Argentina repudiates these abuses and calls on the international community to strongly condemn these criminal actions and violations of international law.
The Argentine Republic reaffirms its commitment to the defence of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in the region and will continue to promote actions before the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the competent international organizations, holding Maduro’s regime accountable for systematic human rights violations, abuse of power, and breach of its international obligations, with the firm aim that such violations will be investigated and punished.
