Foreign Minister Faurie ratified Argentina's proposal as G20 president to discuss the issue of education as it relates to new jobs.

"Technology is changing economic activity all over the world. We know that it creates new opportunities, new ways of conducting business, producing and trading, and that it improves the quality of life of citizens, but it also poses a challenge due to its impact on the labour market," Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie stated during a B20 meeting at the Palacio San Martin, in the presence of businesspeople and government officials from various countries.

The B20 (Business 20) is an engagement group of the G20, which is presided over by Argentina this year. It is comprised of business associations and steers the relationship between G20 leaders and the international business community. The B20 is the engagement group with the longest formal history; it was created in 2010 under the Canadian presidency, and was the first to be formally recognized.

Within a context of technological revolution and in the face of the need to channel its effects, Faurie underscored the role of the G20 as "a mechanism for dialogue between the world's leading economies aimed at learning how to address the future and setting a path forward, since the Group's decisions have systemic value." In this regard, he stressed the need for the G20 to follow an agenda "on work relating to education, so as to adapt to new jobs," in line with Argentina's proposal.

Faurie highlighted that technological advances entail" a democratization of change," and expressed the need for G20 member countries to double their efforts to achieve "inclusion and equality during this global transformation." He also recalled that, at the Digital Economy Task Force in Salta, "the ministers agreed, among other issues, to close the digital gender gap and hasten the development of digital infrastructure, with a view to ensuring access, participation and equality."

Finally, the Foreign Minister stated that, in a context of significant global instability, "we need to make a correct interpretation in order for this challenge to become an opportunity. Argentina has all the skills and human capital to take part in fair and sustainable development, with a focus on the people."
