Bukele in Argentina: Mondino and her Salvadoran counterpart signed a number of agreements at Palacio San Martín

In the context of the official visit to Argentina of Salvadoran president, Nayib Bukele, Foreign Minister Mondino and her counterpart, Alexandra Hill Tinoco, signed a number of bilateral and interinstitutional agreements at Palacio San Martín.

First, the Foreign Ministers signed an Agreement on Cultural Cooperation to promote exchanges regarding cultural heritage, visual and cinematographic arts, music, dance, scenic arts, literature, handicrafts and digital culture. Then, the Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Argentine Foreign Service Institute (ISEN) and the Salvadoran Diplomatic Institute "Doctor José Gustavo Guerrero”.

Mondino and Hill Tinoco also signed a Letter of Intent between Argentina and El Salvador for the creation of an Airport Hub. Through this letter, both countries expressed their willingness to facilitate and promote air connectivity.

In terms of energy, a Memorandum on Cooperation on Human Resource Training was signed between the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) and the Organization for the Implementation of the Nuclear Energy Program in El Salvador (OIPEN) by the president of CNEA, Germán Guido Lavalle, and the Ad-honorem Director General of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Daniel Alejandro Álvarez Campos, on behalf of El Salvador.

Recently, a Salvadoran delegation visited different nuclear facilities in our country and held meetings with authorities in the nuclear sector. On that occasion, human resource training was identified as a priority area for cooperation with El Salvador, on its path towards the adoption of nuclear energy as an energy source.

During the meeting, the Foreign Ministers agreed that these instruments, related to diplomatic training, collaboration in the fields of culture, air services and sports and cooperation in peaceful uses of nuclear energy and water resource management in the Province of Mendoza, are important to expand and strengthen the bilateral relationship and to give a new boost to the common agenda. 

Yesterday, in presence of both countries’ presidents, the Foreign Ministers signed a Joint Statement giving value to the economic, political and cooperation priorities for both countries, the recent milestones in the bilateral relationship, the agreements signed during the visit and the future actions to be carried out regarding trade and investments, as well as cooperation initiatives in nuclear energy, citizen safety and air transport, among others.

The Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Sports, Daniel Scioli, and the Salvadoran Foreign Minister signed an Agreement on Sports Cooperation between the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES) and Argentina's Undersecretariat for Sports, to promote cooperation and training in sports development. To this end, the agreement includes different initiatives, such as the exchange of coaches, specialists and experts, joint training sessions and international sports events.

In addition, the head of the National Irrigation Administration, Sergio Marinelli, and the Salvadoran Foreign Minister signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement between the Salvadoran Water Authority and the Irrigation General Department of the Province of Mendoza. The Agreement sets forth the conditions for sharing knowledge and exchanging information, technology and research to contribute to the preservation, protection, improvement and comprehensive use of water resources.

Furthermore, the Director of the Argentine National Library “Mariano Moreno”, Susana Soto Pérez, and the Salvadoran Minister of Culture, Rául Neftalí Castillo, executed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Argentine Library and the Salvadoran Ministry of Culture to promote cooperation in the fields of culture, heritage and archives.
