As part of the export promotion activities carried out by this Foreign Ministry, the celebration of “Peanut Day” was held today, Monday 2 October, at Palacio San Martín, with the attendance of the foreign diplomatic corps. The event featured various activities, including a presentation on the key elements of the peanut growing cycle, an exhibition of different kinds of canned products and a sampling.
During her opening remarks before the attendees, Foreign Minister Mondino underscored the Ministry’s assistance and commitment to strengthen the integration of this product into the international area through trade promotion tools.
For his part, the President of the Argentine Peanut Chamber (CAM), Diego Yabes, emphasized the importance of joint work between the public and private sectors to promote the sector’s exports and considered the Argentine peanut a product of high-quality and added-value.
The event was attended by national and provincial authorities (for example, authorities of the Province of Córdoba, the main peanut producer in Argentina), Ambassadors and other members of the diplomatic corps accredited to our country, representatives from CAM, companies in the peanut sector and the media.
In the past few years, Argentina’s peanut exports, which reached over 100 destinations, exceeded USD 1 billion, positioning the country as the largest producer in Latin America and the top exporter at the global level.
