The Argentine Government deeply regrets the death of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano, and conveys its condolences to his family and to the Government and people of Japan.
IAEA is the fundamental international organization for international cooperation in the nuclear field. The Agency works with its Member States and various associates from all over the world to promote the use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes and in conditions of technological and physical security.
Argentina is a key actor in that international organization, and it has been part of its Board of Governors, made up of 35 countries, since it was created in 1957.
