Following several conversations and exchanges between President Alberto Fernández and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on the decision to establish binational cooperation in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, a new flight from China arrived today in Argentina with a shipment of official medical assistance, which includes multiple medical supplies. Another flight is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, 15 April.

Within the framework of the Strategic Partnership between both countries, and after President Xi Jinping expressed his strong support for the health-related measures adopted by the Argentine Government, the Argentine Foreign Ministry, headed by Felipe Solá, serves as the focal point to coordinate cooperation in relation to medical supplies, with the aim of continuing to share experiences on the prevention and control of coronavirus, and plans for diagnosis and treatment.

These two new shipments coordinated between both Foreign Ministries include 5,000 protective suits, 10,000 protective medical face masks, 50,000 surgical masks, 1,000 face shields, 200 digital thermometers, 1,000 pairs of gloves and 1,000 shoe covers, to be given to the Argentine Ministry of Health, headed by Ginés González García.

Foreign Minister Felipe Solá thanked the Chinese Ambassador to Argentina, Zou Xiaoli, for the official assistance sent by the Chinese Government through its Ministry of Trade. It is worth noting that assistance is also being received from Chinese provinces, municipalities, entities and companies.

Both governments will continue to strengthen their joint work to actively contribute to safeguarding public health at the local, regional and international level.
