The Governments of the Argentine Republic and the United Kingdom have reached an understanding for LATAM airlines to operate an additional flight to the Malvinas Islands –departing from Brazil– with two monthly stops on the Argentine mainland.

The agreement establishes a one-flight-per-week frequency between São Paulo and the Malvinas Islands, with two monthly stops in the Argentine province of Córdoba, one in each direction, to embark and disembark passengers, cargo and mail.

This process is being conducted within the framework of the Joint Statement and the Exchange of Notes signed by the Argentine Republic and the United Kingdom under the sovereignty formula on 14 July 1999, which constitute the legal basis for flights between the Malvinas Islands and third countries, in addition to the Joint Statement signed on February 2018.

Argentina and the United Kingdom also agreed to hold annual bilateral meetings with a view to evaluating the situation of air links , as well as considering other options to improve connectivity.

The Argentine Government fosters greater air links between the Malvinas Islands and the mainland, and, in this regard, this additional regular flight is part of a steady trust-building process, aimed at strengthening connectivity between the Argentine mainland and the Malvinas Islands.
