After the address by Argentine President Javier Milei at the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, Foreign Minister Diana Mondino continued with her busy agenda in Davos and participated in the “Latin America’s Economic Realism” Panel, moderated by the former Finance Minister of the Republic of Colombia, Mauricio Cárdenas.

At that Panel, Mondino stated that "the best way to grow is through exports; and not only with the efforts made by the Argentine people, but also with foreign direct investment. To that end, we are working to put Argentine and foreign companies on an equal footing, which was not the case before, so that everybody, Argentines and, hopefully, foreigners alike, can invest."

With respect to foreign investment, the Foreign Minister said that "we should regard it from multiple perspectives: not only does it bring money, but it also brings technology and certain elements of corporate government and, above all, access to markets."

Mondino further stated that "not only are we working on the economic field per se, but, for instance, we are also initiating the OECD accession process, which is long and will take years. We are taking into account the restrictions, regulations and benefits in place in more developed countries. If we want to be as developed as the rest, we must take the same steps they took to develop."

The Argentine Foreign Minister shared the panel with the CEO of Cosan (Brazil), Luis Enrique Cals de Beauclair Guimarães; the Governor of the State of Baja California, Mexico, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda; the Minister of Finance of Chile, Mario Marcel; and the Governor of the Central Bank of Peru, Julio Velarde.

As part of her agenda, Mondino participated with the Chief of Cabinet, Nicolás Posse, and the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, in the Dialogue of Ministers with Press Leaders which was moderated by Ricardo Ávila of El Tiempo, a Colombian newspaper. There, she described the opportunities that Argentina's new context offers for investment development and trade growth.

Lastly, Mondino participated in the “Logging into Latin America - The disruptive impact of emerging technologies and AI” working lunch, together with the Argentine Minister of Economy and the Chief of Cabinet.

On Thursday 18, the agenda of Foreign Minister Mondino in Davos will include a meeting with her counterpart from Costa Rica, Arnoldo André Tinoco, and a series of meetings with executives from high-level multinationals, like Nestlé, Visa, Coca-Cola and Louis Dreyfus Company.
