On Friday, January 26, Foreign Minister Mondino held a telephone conversation with her Japanese counterpart, Yoko Kamikawa.

During the fruitful conversation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan congratulated Minister Mondino on her appointment and invited her to make an official visit to Tokyo next March.

Considering that Japan is the world’s third largest economy and member of the G-7, Foreign Minister Mondino emphasized the importance of strengthening the bilateral trade, the opening of markets and Argentina’s interest in expanding Japanese investments in our country. Likewise, she highlighted that more than 70 Japanese companies in the automotive, food and mining sectors already operate in Argentina.

Both Ministers highlighted the celebration in 2023 of the 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Argentina and Japan, emphasizing that Japan was the first State in Asia with which the Argentine Republic established diplomatic relations, and that our country has the 3rd Nikkei community (descendants of Japanese) in Latin America.
