During her official visit to Rome, after a busy agenda of meetings with businessmen, Foreign Minister Diana Mondino met this afternoon with authorities of the Italian Government and then opened two art exhibitions at the Argentine Embassy to celebrate the historical bonds uniting both nations.

Mondino was received by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, to whom she conveyed Argentina’s high interest in increasing economic ties with Italy, regarding especially the diversification  of Argentine exports and the expansion of investments.

The Argentine Minister highlighted the role of our country as a reliable supplier of both food and energy, as well as a partner in the development of value chains. In addition, she told Minister Lollobrigida that "Argentina hopes to count on Italy’s support in the adoption of measures that guarantee the continuity of the supply of Argentine soy biodiesel to the European market.”

Later in the afternoon, Foreign Minister Mondino opened two exhibitions at Casa Argentina, the seat of the Cultural Section of the Argentine Embassy, -one of plastic arts and the other of photography, to celebrate the historical ties that unite both nations.

The exhibition entitled “Rome and Buenos Aires, joint dimensions”, by the Italian artist Davide Querin, consists of the staging of oil paintings, each one measuring 75x75 cm. The montage is made up of paintings arranged in 4 rows of 4 paintings each, and the composition of each painting continues in the neighboring paintings to create the scenic effect of a single 300x300 cm work. The Italian artist is currently working on his work inspired by Argentine landscapes and culture.

The Foreign Minister also opened the photography exhibition “Italy - Argentina, the art of building”, an exhibition made possible with the collaboration of Lariviere and curated by the architect and photographer Fabio Grementieri. It portrays images of emblematic buildings built by Italian architects throughout Argentina, mainly between the 19th and 20th centuries. The purpose of the exhibition is to highlight monumental works such as the Government House (Pink House, Casa Rosada), the Palace of the National Congress, the Colón Opera House, the Molino Patisserie building (Confitería del Molino) and the landmark office building Pasaje Barolo in the city of Buenos Aires, in addition to other public and institutional buildings in all provinces such as government houses, legislatures, courthouses and municipalities.

Images of products and buildings made by the Techint company are displayed in a separate section.

The works displayed in two exhibitions once again demonstrate the countless facets of the historical ties that unite Italy and Argentina.
