On Friday, the Official Gazette published Ministerial Order 37/21, signed by Foreign Minister Felipe Solá. providing for the creation of a Unit to Promote Energy and Mining Investment in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship.
The Unit, created within the Secretariat for International Economic Relations headed by Jorge Neme, will, among other things, be aimed at formulating and implementing policies to attract investments to the energy and mining sectors.
“It is advisable for the implementation of a policy to attract investment to the energy and mining sectors, which are within the purview of the Secretariat, to be coordinated by a specialized unit, in view of the technical nature of the field and of the multiplicity of projects and initiatives in which Argentina participates at a bilateral level,” states the Ministerial Order in its recitals.
Some of the Unit’s duties will include the coordination of actions to promote investment in the energy and mining field abroad and the launching of initiatives in that field; participation in assisting Argentine companies in their process of internationalization and/or attraction of investors to the energy and mining sectors; and participation in the identification and promotion of trade and cooperation agreements to promote foreign investment in the energy and mining fields.
