This morning, at Palacio Nacional, the seat of the Federal Executive Branch of Mexico, President Alberto Fernández shared a busy work schedule with his Mexican counterpart, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as they discussed bilateral, regional and multilateral matters. The President was welcomed by López Obrador at the Puerta de Honor and they both headed to the presidential office for a brief meeting. President Fernández then took part in the regular morning press conference held by the Mexican President in the Salón Tesorería. Fernández was joined by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, Felipe Solá, the Communications and Press Secretary, Juan Pablo Biondi, and the Argentine Ambassador to Mexico, Carlos Tomada. “It is our duty for Mexico and Argentina to be united. It is our responsibilty for Argentina and Mexico to pursue a common future in a manner that benefits Latin America. From the northernmost to the southernmost country in Latin America we have to be capable of drawing a line that unites the continent,” stated the Argentine Head of State. López Obrador, for his part, stated that “Alberto Fernández, the President of Argentina, is our friend and represents our sister nation of Argentina.” The presidents went on to hold a working breakfast with the ministers of Foreign Affairs of both countries, Felipe Solá and Marcelo Ebrard, and then participated in the ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of the death of former Mexican President Francisco I. Madero. Alberto Fernández is in Mexico to take part in one of the ceremonies to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Mexican independence, having been especially invited by López Obrador.
