Within the context of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where he presented Rafael Grossi's candidacy, Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie met with the Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil, Bento Costa Lima.

Both ministers noted that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the entry into force of the agreement between Argentina, Brazil, the Brazilian-Argentine Agency of Nuclear Material Accounting and Control (ABACC) and the IAEA for the imposition of safeguards, known as the "Quadripartite Agreement."

Faurie and Costa Lima also presented a joint stand showcasing the developments of Argentina and Brazil in relation to the use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, both individually and in the wider context of bilateral cooperation, for almost three decades now.

The Foreign Minister noted that "in the joint statement of July of this year on nuclear policy, Argentina and Brazil both expressed our satisfaction of the fact that such instrument allowed the ABACC and IAEA to efficiently conduct verification inspections so as to offer firm guarantees to the international community that nuclear energy will be used solely for peaceful purposes and for the scientific, technological, economic and social development of both nations".
