In the context of the State Visit to the Republic of India, headed by president Mauricio Macri and comprising a delegation of more than 80 businesspersons, Indian market openings were agreed on for lemons, fresh eggs, egg products, fish and bone meal from Argentina. Furthermore, India will be able to export guar and millet seeds to Argentina.
The approval of the protocols, which took place during the meeting between President Macri and the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will allow Argentine companies to export to India for the first time, thus contributing to the objective of increasing and diversifying international sales for regional economies and SMEs.
"The negotiation of the protocol for the entry of lemons was a very long process that ended successfully today. It is part of the sustained effort to open up new opportunities for Argentine products: over the last three years we have achieved the opening of more than 170 markets in over 50 countries," the Secretary for International Economic Relations of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, Horacio Reyser, stated.
The decision was reflected in a joint declaration released after the meeting between the leaders in New Delhi. The declaration also expressed both countries' willingness to continue working together to achieve more market access for products. Among other products, Argentina seeks to export oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, grapes, blueberries, walnuts and yerba mate.
Furthermore, both countries agreed to enhance and strengthen modalities for technical bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as renewable energy sources, ICTs, pharmaceutical products, mechanization and new technologies for agro-industry, animal and plant health, biotechnology and technology.
