Meeting with Ambassadors of the Group of African Countries

Foreign Minister Diana Mondino met today with Ambassadors of the Group of African Countries accredited to the Argentine Republic. At the working meeting, they highlighted the dynamic nature of the African continent, its geopolitical relevance and its economic and demographic growth, as well as its potential links with Argentina.

 

In this context, they discussed items on the agenda concerning the historical ties with the African continent. Both parties expressed their mutual interest in increasing and diversifying trade and in continuing to promote productive investments, tourism and cultural and sports exchanges.

 

In addition, they referred to the importance of cooperation in peaceful uses of nuclear energy, high value-added national exports and the possibilities for partnerships in the fields of food security, energy, agricultural technology, airspace and pharmaceuticals.

 

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, Fares Yassir, Dean of the Group of African Countries; the Ambassador of Tunisia, Mohamed Ali Ben Abid; the Ambassador of Angola, Azevedo Xavier Francisco; the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cibangu Kasonga Mubabinge, and the Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Lotfi Sebouai, as well as the Chargés d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Egypt, Counsellor Karim Abulenein, and of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ishiaku Dambam Saidu.
