In the context of the meeting between Germany and Latin America and the Caribbean, the participating Lima Group countries –Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay and Peru– recalled the serious situation in Venezuela, and reaffirmed their solidarity with the Venezuelan people in their struggle to restore democracy, constitutional order and respect for their human rights, and to overcome the severe humanitarian crisis which is currently compromising their right to life.
The countries of the Lima Group reiterated their support for Interim President Juan Guaidó and the members of the National Assembly, especially those who have been stripped of their parliamentary immunity and are therefore under arrest or suffering exile.
They reaffirmed that they will continue working with the International Community towards the end of usurpation, the establishment of a transition Government and the holding of free and transparent elections with international observers.
