The Secretary for International Economic Relations of the Foreign Ministry, Horacio Reyser, received a delegation of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), representing various political parties of the Foreign Affairs Committee and International Trade Committee of the European Parliament and in charge of approving the EU's trade agreements.

Bilateral relations and MERCOSUR-EU negotiations were discussed at the meeting. The Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, David McAllister, recognized the work carried out by Argentina towards international reintegration, and underscored Argentina's value as a partner for the EU in the face of new global challenges.

Regarding MERCOSUR-EU negotiations, Reyser agreed with MEPs on the importance of the progress made and the need to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement during negotiations. In turn, the delegation of MEPs highlighted the importance of an agreement from a geostrategic, and not only economic, perspective and also stressed that the EU needs reliable allies with shared values, that will stand strong in an unpredictable world.

The position expressed by the delegation is especially important given the work of both Committes at the European Parliament, the institution in charge of supervising and approving trade agreements.
