Foreign Minister Diana Mondino arrived today in Kuala Lumpur, capital city of Malaysia, where she will begin her first official tour of Asia, which also includes visits to Vietnam and Japan, with a wide-ranging agenda of meetings to be held through next week.

In each of those countries, the Foreign Minister will meet with high political authorities, top-level companies and distinguished investment funds, with the goal of enhancing bilateral economic relations and giving a new boost to investments in Argentina. To that end, Mondino will share with her counterparts detailed insight into the reforms that the Milei administration is implementing.

On Monday, during the first stop in her official tour, Mondino will be welcomed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, and will meet with various officials of the local cabinet, including Foreign Minister Utama Haji Mohamad bin Hasan and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Mohamad Bin Sabu.

In addition, along with the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Liew Chin Tong, the Foreign Minister will chair a round table with Malaysian companies and investment funds, joined by a delegation of Argentine business leaders.

Malaysia and Argentina established diplomatic relations in 1967 and Malaysia is the 4th top destination of Argentine exports to Asia. In addition, there has historically been a surplus for Argentina in trade exchange between the two countries.

Then, Diana Mondino will arrive on Tuesday in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, where she will be welcomed by the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh. Later on, she will hold meetings with her counterpart, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son; and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Le Minh Hoan; and the Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Hong Dien.

In Vietnam, the Foreign Minister will take part in an event for the promotion of Argentine beef, with the presence of the main Vietnamese importers, distributors, and wholesale and retail sellers. She will also chair a working meeting between businesspeople of the two countries.

The Minister will also lay a wreath at the Heroic Martyrs’ Monument and pay a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Vietnam is a strategic partner for Argentina in terms of foreign trade, as it is one of the countries with which Argentina has one of the largest trade surpluses and it is one of the main destinations for our exports.

Finally, on Thursday 21, the Argentine Foreign Minister will arrive in Tokyo, capital of Japan, where she will be taking part in many working meetings until Friday 22, including meetings with her counterpart, Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoko Kamikawa; Japanese Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Tetsushi Sakamoto, and Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Masahito Moriyama.

Her agenda in Japan will have a strong economic and trade-related component, including meetings with the Head of the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) Regional Office in Asia, Hideharu Takana; Toyota’s General Manager for America and the Caribbean, Hidemoto Azakura, and the Executive Advisor of NEC Corporation, Nobuhiro Endo.

Mondino will also meet with the Vice-President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Mio Kawada, participate in an event with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) and hold a meeting with Argentine and Japanese entities and companies.
