This afternoon, Foreign Minister Diana Mondino met with the Manager of the Association of Producers, Packers and Exporters of Garlic, Onions and Related Products of the Province of Mendoza, Maximiliano Di Cesare; the Undersecretary for Institutional Relations of the Province of Mendoza, José María Videla; and the Member of Mendoza’s Legislature, María Eugenia de Marchi, to discuss strategies in order to boost Argentina’s garlic exports to the region and to the rest of the world.

At the meeting, Mondino highlighted the Foreign Ministry’s commitment to seek new markets, improve access conditions and promote products of regional economies, such as garlic.

Mendoza produces 90% of Argentina’s garlic and exports 80% of its production, mainly to Brazil. It is estimated there are more than 2,000 garlic producers and 100 export packing facilities in Mendoza. In the first 11 months of 2023, Argentina’s exports amounted to more than USD 84 million.
