The Argentine Foreign Ministry and the Argentine Investment and International Trade Agency (AAICI) have established a new distribution centre at the Colon Free Trade Zone in Panama, with a view to facilitating Argentine exports to the world. The inauguration of this new logistics hub adds to existing hubs in Shanghai (China), Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Antwerp (Belgium).
Over the past few years, Panama has become one of the most important distribution centres in the region thanks to its efficient multimodal transport and logistics network. This initiative will therefore provide a new gateway for Argentine products into the markets of the Caribbean, Central America and Northern South America.
Thanks to the recently signed agreement with Global Cargo Panamá, exporters will have access to a warehouse of over 40 thousand square meters with storage, inventory management, international transport, customs clearance, value-added and container freight station services.
The "Panama Distribution Centre" is included in the logistics hub programme launched by the Argentine Government, aimed at providing Argentine companies with access to benefits that improve their competition conditions in international markets.
This programme offers an exclusive line of credit of BICE bank for SMEs, which provides funds to cover 75-100% of export value, and removes barriers related to logistics and distribution of Argentine products abroad. In this regard, it enables operations with minimum order quantity requirements, conditioning products at destination, avoiding added distribution costs and delaying the payment of tariffs until purchases are made.
