A presentation meeting for Elisa Trotta Gamus, the Representative sent by Venezuela's Interim President, was held today at the Palacio San Martín in the presence of representatives from Embassies of countries accredited to Argentina that have recognized Congressman Juan Guaidó as Interim President, and was attended by Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie.

Foreign Minister Faurie reaffirmed the full support of Argentina and the Lima Group for Interim President Juan Guaidó and called for a proactive attitude by all countries to restore democracy in Venezuela, especially under the present circumstances, due to the attempt to strip him of his parliamentary immunity.

The presentation was also chaired by Undersecretaries for Affairs of the Americas and for Institutional Relations and Public Diplomacy of the Foreign Ministry, who described Argentina's efforts to restore democracy in Venezuela and to help mitigate the humanitarian crisis affecting the country, including the recent creation of the Support for the Reconstruction of Venezuela Unit at the Foreign Ministry.

Representative Elisa Trotta described the current situation in Venezuela and potential perspectives, and pointed out the efforts undertaken by Interim President Juan Guaidó in the context of the roadmap laid out by the National Assembly in order to restore democracy, ensure respect for human rights and deal with the current humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. Finally, she requested support and understanding from the international community to fight against Maduro's regime.
