In view of the political unrest in Bolivia that resulted from the presidential elections held on 20 October, the Argentine Government takes note of the preliminary report of the Electoral Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS), whose audit confirmed the complaints of irregularities during the vote counting process and recommended that new elections be held.

The Argentine Government believes it is unavoidable for the Bolivian Government to call for new elections and, to that end, replace the authorities of the Electoral Tribunal with transparency.

From the beginning, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and the United Stated requested an investigation into the anomalies denounced on 20 October, the same day the elections were held, and backed the findings of the OAS audit, whose preliminary report was released today.

The Argentine Government hopes the new round of elections will meet all the standards of freedom and transparency so that the true voice and will of the Bolivian people can be reflected without any distortions.
