Press release on the situation in Ecuador

As Member State to the Convention on Diplomatic Asylum of 1954, under which asylum has been recently granted to Venezuelan political leaders, and while awaiting the granting of the required safe-conducts, the Argentine Republic joins the countries in the region in condemning the events that took place last night at the Embassy of Mexico in Ecuador and calls for full compliance with the provisions of said international instrument, as well as with the obligations provided for in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
