Regional Workshop on Technical Cooperation in Spanish language teaching with English-speaking Caribbean Countries

In furtherance of activities on International Cooperation between Argentina and the English-speaking Caribbean countries, the "Regional Workshop on Technical Cooperation in Spanish language teaching with English-speaking Caribbean Countries" will be held in Buenos Aires on 25-28 February.

The event is funded by the Argentine Fund for International Cooperation (FO.AR), with a view to strengthening institutional ties and exchanging experiences and knowledge of Spanish language teaching as a second language in English-speaking Caribbean countries.

Specialized officials from the Ministries of Education of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago will attend the Workshop. Authorities from the Department of Languages, Linguistics and Literature of the University of the West Indies will also take part.

This event is the second follow-up stage on projects set during the Workshop on Regional Cooperation with English-Speaking Caribbean Countries held in Barbados in April 2018.

During the 4-day Workshop, there will be training activities on contemporary pedagogical methods for the teaching of Spanish as a second language, teaching materials, standardization of curriculums and evaluation, among other related aspects. There will also be a presentation of the Global Campus initiative, the Language Assistants Programme and the Certificate of Spanish: Language and Use (CELU).

On behalf of Argentina, the event will be attended by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology and the Language Laboratory of the University of Buenos Aires.
