The Second Meeting of the Argentina-Bolivia Binational Committee on Trade, Investments, and Economic Relations was held virtually on 5 April. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary for International Economic Relations, Jorge Neme, and the Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade and Integration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Benjamín Blanco.
During the meeting, items on the bilateral economic and trade agenda were discussed, such as market access, cooperation on regulatory matters and agricultural technology, transport, sharing of tax information, energy, and mining.
Both countries agreed to hold a virtual round of negotiations of the agricultural sector during May, with a view to building business partnerships to promote the region’s production in third markets. They also agreed to work together to foster information sharing on lithium, so as to enhance the capacities of both countries. In addition, the work to advance negotiations in connection with sanitary and phytosanitary issues will continue.
Finally, Bolivia ratified its interest in continuing with its process of accession to Mercosur, and Argentina renewed its support for the inclusion of Bolivia as a full member of the bloc.
