The Seventh Meeting of the Political Affairs Committee of the Argentina-Mexico Strategic Partnership Agreement was held virtually, on Monday 20 May. The Argentine delegation was headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Leopoldo Sahores, while the Mexican delegation was headed by the Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean, Laura Elena Carrillo Cubillas.
During the meeting, both officials discussed issues on the bilateral political agenda, including the recent progress made regarding the execution of agreements and the planning of activities for the celebration of the 135th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between both countries. In addition, they referred to the actions within the purview of this year’s consultative mechanisms on technical cooperation, consular and migratory issues, and space matters. These actions will be addressed at the next ministerial meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council.
The officials shared their views on the regional and multilateral scenario and highlighted the importance of coordinating actions within the G20, where sherpas from both countries participated.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sahores thanked the permanent support of the Mexican Government for Argentina’s legitimate sovereignty rights over the Malvinas, South Georgias and South Sandwich Islands and the surrounding maritime areas.
This successful meeting reaffirms the relevance of the Argentina-Mexico Strategic Partnership and reflects both governments’ commitment to translating their shared history and values into concrete actions for mutual benefit.
