With the support of Argentina’s Foreign Ministry, Argentine companies manufacturers of agricultural machinery participated in a Trade Mission to Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania to introduce their exportable offer in this Balkan region where sectoral demand is increasing.

The Argentine presence began at BATA AGRO Fair in the city of Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, through the participation of 8 Argentine companies (Richiger, Akron S.A., De Grande S.A, Ombú S.A, Super Walter, Cestari S.R.L, Maizco and Crucianelli Group). Representatives of the Argentine firms held business meetings with potential local distributors and exhibited their equipment (seeders, harvesting heads and grain hoppers) on site. Additionally, the Argentine Embassy in Bulgaria coordinated 45 business meetings for the Argentine delegation.

During the second leg of the trip, the trade mission continued to Serbia, where four Argentine companies participated in the NOVI SAD Fair (De Grande S.A., Ombú, Cestari and Franco Fabril). These companies held more than 30 meetings with Serbian counterparts, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Agricultural Machinery Exporters of that country. As a result, the De Grande firm will export combine harvester heads over the next 12 months and will make the first shipment in July.

The Argentine Embassy in Romania widely disseminated the Argentine presence at the BATA AGRO and NOVI SAD Fairs, making it possible for our country's firms to meet with Romanian importing counterparts at both events, and supporting Cestari firm during its stay in Romania.

All the Argentine companies’ representatives who traveled to Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania highlighted the importance of these markets and their potential, particularly in terms of direct sowing and technologies for bagging and storing dry grains, and indicated that the support of Argentina’s Foreign Ministry and its representations abroad in markets as distant as these is essential to achieve greater and better satisfaction of the demand in foreign markets.

According to data from the Argentine Chamber of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers (CAFMA), the agricultural machinery sector in our country includes 1,260 companies (97% of which are locally owned), generating direct employment for more than 30,000 people and indirect employment for 40,000, and exporting 23% of its total manufacturing. The products of the sector represent 1.5% of the total national industrial production.
