Foreign Minister Felipe Solá met this morning with Enrique Iglesias, EU Special Adviser for Venezuela, with whom he discussed the possibility of finding "a democratic solution" to the political, economic, and institutional crisis facing the country.

Iglesias, who is also an International Contact Group representative and is currently touring the Americas, listened to Solá as he stated the Argentine government's position and firm commitment to finding a solution—within the framework of the rule of law—to the critical situation in Venezuela, which is also the position of the South American countries that comprise the Lima Group.

In this regard, Solá held a telephone conversation minutes before with Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, with whom he agreed on finding points of understanding between Europe and Latin America that can lead towards a peaceful and democratic solution to the crisis.

Solá promised he would participate in the next meeting on this topic, which is to take place on 3 March, in Brussels. The meeting will also be attended by representatives of the European Union, the United States, China, and South American countries such as Peru and Panama, among others.
