The White Helmets Commission, which reports to the Argentine Foreign Ministry headed by Felipe Solá, continues to provide healthcare assistance in the tents set up outside the Corail Commune Néstor Kirchner Hospital, to increase healthcare capacity following the damage suffered during the 14 August earthquake.
During its second stage, the Argentine humanitarian mission led by the White Helmets President, Marina Cardelli, is cooperating with the countries and humanitarian actors present in order to strengthen the international response to deal with the emergency suffered by the Haitian people.
The Commission and the BREC brigade of the Brazilian Civil Protection are coordinating the medical assistance in the health tents and are working jointly on the stabilisation of the Hospital’s building structure in order to restore its healthcare capacity as soon as possible.
The Argentine team, made up of 24 Argentine volunteers specialised in health and logistics, is also working on the ground with Doctors Without Borders.
The Commission has also prepared the Argentine donation of medical supplies to Cuba, as part of the long-standing ties of solidarity and friendship between both countries and all Caribbean countries.
Through the joint Mission between the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defence, the Argentine donation left for La Habana on board an Air Force Hercules aircraft, which will then head to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and then bring the Argentine Humanitarian Mission back to Argentina.
With supplies provided by the Foreign Ministry White Helmets Commission and the Argentine Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, the Argentine shipment comprises: 517,600 1ml disposable syringes, 31,000 23G x 1 (0.6 x 25 mm) disposable needles, 10,000 N95 face masks, 10,000 surgical masks, 1,000 face shields with replacement windows, 5,000 M-size nitrile gloves, 5,000 L-size nitrile gloves, 2,000 sms disposable gowns 45 gr with elastic cuffs, 10,000 1.5 ml vials, 10,000 0.2 ml vials, 3,360 sterile 10 ul DNase/RNase-free tips, 3,360 sterile 200 ul DNase DNase/RNase-free tips.
