Foreign Minister Diana Mondino, together with the President of the Board of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), Daniel Felipe Salamone, held a fruitful working meeting this afternoon with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Argentina, H.E. Saeed Abdulla Saif Joula Alqemzi, and the President of the Emirati initiative “Emirates Tech & Invest”, Martín Gonzalo Bueno.
At the outset, Foreign Minister Mondino and Ambassador Alqemzi stressed the strength and importance of the bilateral relationship between the two countries, which will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations next February.
Next, a potential partnership was discussed for the creation of a technological consortium, made up of scientific experts from CONICET and public and private companies from Argentina and the UAE, which could work on projects related to science, technology and artificial intelligence.
In this context, reference was made to the possibility of Argentine scientists developing projects to meet the needs of the Emirati science and technology sector, with funding from the UAE.
In this regard, Foreign Minister Mondino mentioned to the Emirati Ambassador that CONICET has a pool of human resources highly qualified in research and development applied to areas which, with private sector investment, could support both the development of the UAE and Argentina’s profile as an exporter of knowledge-based services (KBSs).
