Marcelo Oscar Castelo is a researcher specializing in the history of Argentine tango, President of the Argentine Tango Institute (IAT), and an Honorary Member (Académico HC) of the National Academy of Tango. Since the late 1990s, he has conducted sustained historiographical research with a critical and revisionist approach, focusing specifically on the foundational period of tango through 1920.
Beyond his academic work, he has an extensive practical background in the field as a milonga organizer, director of three dance academies, and a Tango DJ (TDJ). He is also the producer and editor of the specialized magazine Argentango.
Currently, he serves as the Academic Director and Senior Professor of the Diploma in Tango History at the IAT and frequently delivers lectures both in Argentina and internationally.
