Video. The Secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic, Daniel Filmus, visited the facilities of the National Congress Press (ICN), which will distribute 50,000 copies of the Bicontinental Map of the Argentine Republic to schools across the country.
“We are proud of the job done by the workers of the National Congress Press. It is a contribution to all the schools across the country to disseminate and raise awareness on national sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands, Antarctica and the South Atlantic” he stated.
Filmus also pointed out that “together with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, we have decided that the recent law that demarks the outer limit of the Argentine continental shelf, unanimously passed by the National Congress, must be a heritage of our teachers and students”.
During the visit, made last December 15th, the Secretary was accompanied by Rodrigo Martín Rodríguez, Administrative Secretary of the Chamber of Deputies and administrator of the ICN, and Juan Manuel Cheppi, Secretary General of the Chamber of Deputies.
Rodríguez highlighted the importance of the joint work done “by a historic institution such as our Press and a fundamental area of the National State such as the Secretariat of Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic, headed by Daniel Filmus. We are also proud to be a part of the production of the new Bicontinental Map of Argentina. This is the first of many works that we will be doing together”.
For his part, Cheppi considered that the preparation of a map with a new and precise demarcation of the continental shelf constitutes “significant progress in the recognition and defense of Argentine sovereignty over its continental, insular and Antarctic territory”. He also celebrated that it was made by the ICN.
The event was also attended by national deputy Jimena López; the general coordinator of the National Commission on the Outer Limit of the Continental Shelf (COPLA), Frida Armas Pfirter; and authorities of the printing press, such as the general coordinator, Gustavo Cirelli; the director of operational coordination, Gonzalo Herrera; the administrative director, Roberto Dossi; the deputy director of administration and finances, Néstor Fiorenza; the chief of design, Cristina Renart, and the graphic deputy director, Raúl Díaz.
In total, 50,000 maps will be printed out and distributed to schools across the country as established by Law 26,651 of 2010. The norm also dictates that they must be displayed in all national and provincial agencies.
The production and printing of the new Bicontinental Map of Argentina was the result of a joint work by the Secretariat of the Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, the National Commission on the Outer Limit of the Continental Shelf (COPLA), the Chamber of Deputies and the National Congress Press.
