The University Observatory of Buenos Aires, in the orbit of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), recently published its 10th report entitled “Malvinas, a State issue”, which analyzes the policies carried out in the Malvinas Question. Moreover, it presents the Faculty's initiative to create a Subject on “Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic”.
“The Subject was promoted by a group of professionals that come from different disciplines -Sociology, History, Geography, Economics, Law, Political Science- and who decided to carry out a comprehensive pedagogical program that would allow to discuss and problematize Malvinas, Antarctica and the South Atlantic. The authorities of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UBA invited us to create the Subject in the orbit of this important house of studies”, stated Uriel Erlich, one of the promoters of the initiative.
Some of the goals of the Subject are: to promote academic training in the Question of the Malvinas Islands, in all its complexity; to establish an academic dialogue on the Malvinas Question, based on the principles established by the National Constitution and the international community, encouraging reflection and critical thinking, in order to promote innovative and creative approaches to the resolution of the sovereignty dispute; and to promote joint work with other universities and organizations that contributes to the development of policies. The Subject would start in the second quarter of 2020.
