With the aid and collaboration of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, the 133th Meeting of the Technical Commission of Ministers of Justice from Mercosur and its Associate States was held last 4-5 May, under Argentina's 2017 Presidency Pro Tempore. The delegations of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay participated in the meeting, as well as the Associate States of Chile, Colombia and Ecuador.
The topic of transnational crimes was addressed at the meeting, among other issues, in order to compare different national laws and explore the possibility of creating cooperation tools.
Furthermore, progress was made on the discussion of several declarations on Protection of Personal Data, International Cooperation on Civil and Administrative Proceedings against Corruption, and Good Practices in Access to Justice for Migrant and Imprisoned Women for Drug-related Crimes, to be signed in the upcoming meeting of Justice Ministers from MERCOSUR and its Associate States. These declarations seek to create regional public policies on justice with a focus on human rights.
