Today, at the Palacio San Martín, the Argentine Foreign Ministry held the first meeting of the Advisory Commission on Cultural Matters, comprised of renowned experts in various fields and issues of Argentine culture, working pro bono.
At the meeting, headed by Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie and attended by the Director for Cultural Affairs of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Sergio Baur, the members of the Commission were introduced as follows:
Teresa Anchorena, President of the National Commission of Monuments and Historical Sites and Property of the Ministry of Culture;
Andrés Duprat, Director of the National Museum of Fine Arts;
María Victoria Alcaraz, Director General of the Teatro Colón;
Eleonora Jaureguiberry, Undersecretary General for Culture of the Municipality of San Isidro;
Mauro Herlitzka, President of Espigas Foundation;
Adriana Rosenberg, Director of Proa Foundation;
Esteban Tedesco, art collector;
Alejandro Katz, essayist and editor; and
Luis Alberto Romero, historian.
The Commission's goal is to design strategies in order to contribute to promoting national cultural identity and consolidating Argentina's country brand. To that end, the Commission will develop, among other policies, new selection tools for cultural projects to be fostered by the Argentine Foreign Ministry abroad, in order to promote a diverse, plural and federal cultural agenda.
