Argentina and China reaffirm peaceful use of Space Facility in Neuquén

Argentine Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra and her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, signed in Hangzhou, China, an Additional Protocol to the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Argentine Republic and the Government of the People's Republic of China on the Construction, Establishment and Operation of a Deep Space Station of China in the Province of Neuquén, Argentina, within the Framework of the Chinese Moon Exploration Programme, signed on 23 April 2014.

The Additional Protocol reaffirms and states, in restrictive terms, that the Space Observation Facility in Neuquén will be used exclusively for peaceful purposes.

The signing of the Protocol strengthens both countries' commitment to make progress in the field of science and technology cooperation in general and space cooperation in particular, based on the peaceful use of said observation facility.
