Argentina gains access to Philippine market for beef

Thursday, 02 March 2017
Information for the Press N°:
055/2017

Action jointly taken by the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Agroindustry, the National Service of Agrifood Health and Quality (SENASA) and the Argentine Embassy in the Republic of the Philippines has enabled Argentina to gain access to the Philippine market for its beef.

This new market opening is another result of the efforts made towards an intelligent insertion of our country into the world, with a view to broadening and diversifying export destinations and opportunities.

Access to the Philippine market for Argentine beef means entry into one of Asia’s most dynamic markets, whose total imports exceeded USD 70 billion in 2015, with a population of 100 million and high economic growth (6.4% in 2016). The Philippines imported USD 330 million in beef in 2015.

The efforts made by Argentine authorities to achieve that result broaden and diversify our export base to that country, which had so far predominantly comprised wheat and soybean meal and pellets, accounting for almost 85% of total exports during 2016.
