"One of the golden rules of international insertion is to know how to read the signs of our time well. The global arena is undergoing major changes; we live in a time of uncertainty as regards the role of nations and the definition of leaderships. Therefore, societies must plan beyond the short term," stated Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie at the closing ceremony of the Meeting "Argentina 2030 - Israel 2048: Two countries planning for the future", which was intended to strengthen bilateral cooperation and was attended by experts, business owners, academics and authorities from provincial and local governments.

Alongside the Secretary for Inter-ministerial Coordination of the Office of the Chief of Cabinet of Ministers, Mario Quintana, and the Israeli Ambassador to Argentina, Ilan Sztulman, Minister Faurie explained that "Argentines find it difficult to plan for the medium term, hence the importance of the work of the 'Argentina 2030' initiative. In the context of the 'Israel 2048' project, which coincides with the 100th anniversary of the creation of the State of Israel, sharing experiences greatly contributes to our plans for the future and to developing a strategic vision."

The Argentine Foreign Minister further noted: "Argentina wants to overcome the isolation cycle experienced in the last few years, which only leads to a smaller, poor and backward society, cut off from the world. We have experienced this first-hand. In order to overcome this stage, we are developing a process of smart insertion into the world and are willing to engage in dialogue with all actors."

"We are aware that Argentina has had moments of hope which ultimately led to frustrations. Now, Argentines are undergoing a period of transformations and renewed expectations for the achievement of a stable and lasting change," Minister Faurie explained at the Manuel Belgrano Auditorium of the Argentine Foreign Ministry.

The Argentine Foreign Minister highlighted that "by 2030, we want our society to be inclusive, to provide opportunities for all and to guarantee the welfare and peaceful coexistence of its members. We want Argentina to participate in all global issues and to make its contribution. As we approach the 100th anniversary of Israel's creation, in 2030 Argentina will be a modern nation with a firmly established cultural change, which will participate in global policies."

In turn, Secretary Quintana highlighted the 2030 initiative and its value as a process in itself, in line with President Mauricio Macri's statements and the need to engage in dialogue to reach consensus, look to the future and stop fighting over the past. "It is much more important to move forward together than to do so fast, because we will go further," he stressed.

"Argentina is performing well below its potential. Looking beyond the figures, this situation is embodied in our over 13 million poor people, whose lives, stories and futures are compromised; such a painful reality calls for urgent action. In this regard, we can learn from the experience of Israel, which has developed an inclusive vision for the country and is an example of entrepreneurship and innovation."
