Within the framework of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting taking place today and tomorrow in Buenos Aires, Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie met this afternoon with his counterpart from Italy, Angelino Alfano, with whom he reviewed the most important issues on the bilateral political and economic agenda.
The Ministers addressed the current situation of both countries and Alfano described the process of forming the new Italian government. They also addressed the Argentine G20 Presidency and Italy's participation at the forum.
Faurie and Alfano addressed possibilities of increased bilateral trade and mutual investment and the state of the Mercosur-EU negotiation. They also addressed Argentina's OECD membership bid.
In addition, they reviewed the continued growth of the Italian-Argentine System of Satellites for Emergency Management and the progress made on the programme for bilingual schools in Argentine provinces.
After the meeting, the Foreign Ministers opened the photography exhibition "An Italian-Latin American dream" to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Italo-Latin American Institute, held at the Manuel Belgrano Auditorium of the Argentine Foreign Ministry.
